Why not just go somewhere else?

If you're from the UK or Ireland and you've ever felt like you just want to just go away somewhere, you're in the right place. Because I do too.

To me these days, it seems to feel like travel has to be either very expensive or planned to the smallest detail to be anything worth doing. Perfect to-the-minute itineraries or '10 must-do things' come to mind, especially whenever I seem to check instagram or tiktok.

Thing is, I don't really like that sort of stuff. I just want to wander around somewhere that isn't where I live.

Adam (me!)

I actually think no one today really realises how easy travel can be. It doesn't have to perfect, expensive or massively over-planned. You can literally hop on a flight in a few days time, book some accommodation and, well, go!

The amount of brilliant times I've had from going to Spain for a few days, or Bulgaria for the weekend. Those trips weren't booked years-in-advance or cost me thousands for extravagant luxury, they were just things I figured looked more fun than staying at home. Because really:

Why not?

That's the whole point of the trips I go on, and the reason I started the Shoestring travel club. If you have a couple of days free in your diary, and a bit of money you'd probably spend on a night out anyway, why not just go away on a trip somewhere instead?

Some Trips I've Taken Doing this So Far:

Me Mt Tiede Tenerife

4 Days in Tenerife for £142

Sun, sea, great food and a whole lot of relaxing. I found and booked this one in November with about 7 days notice, and recharged the batteries right up

Me Carcassonne France

Carcassonne for 3 days - £108

Where the hell is Carcassonne, I hear you ask. I thought the same thing, so I went for a look around. Turns out it's lovely! Nothing much to do but eat nice food, drink wine and generally pretend to be French

Gothenburg - 3 Days for £138

I did this in April 2026 for a couple of days. Turns out Gothenburg is lovely! (And the hotel I stayed in was lovely, with a sauna, pool and free breakfast)

Me Sunset Arms Out Edited LOSP.jpg

Menorca in April - £103

Secluded coves and watching sunsets in 3000 year old settlements. Sure it was a little chilly at night, but what else are jumpers for!

So, What Exactly Is Being A Club Member About?

I started this club to share pretty much everything I find, see, think and do travel-wise.
So, being a club member means you get to hear my take on stuff like:

- Trips I find that in think could be worth going on

- Opinions on places I've been and found online (both good and bad)

- Travel tips & General chat (e.g. tips on how to get extra legroom for free)

If I think its useful to share, I'll share it. Simple.

How Much Is Membership?

You can join the club for either:

£3.50 a month
(≈ €4.00 - paid monthly)

£2.50 a month
(£30 / ≈ €35 paid annually)

Each one has a free trial (monthly - 7 days, annually - 14 days) to give you an idea of what the club is all about before you pay anything.

But with whichever one you choose, you get access to everything I share for less than the cost of a coffee per month.

So, why not see what it's all about? ☕️

That's pretty much the long and short of it.

If you've ever sat there in the UK or Ireland thinking 'I want to just go somewhere else', this is the place for you.

I built the Shoestring Travel Club to share my way of travelling. No ultra-expensive trips, no massive plans. Just my take on places I've been, and me sharing trips I find and think are worth going on.

So, if you're likely to have a couple of days spare in the coming months and don't fancy spending the money on a night out, why not join and get away for a few days instead?
